One day during 1916, the war came to a quiet village in Northamptonshire, when a Zeppelin flew over the village of Yarwell, to the considerable consternation of the villagers. The zeppelin dropped a bomb, which luckily landed in a nearby field.
One enterprising man took advantage of the fears of the villagers. Horace Longfoot was an insurance agent living in Yarwell. He sold the the villagers insurance against damage to their homes resulting from a zeppelin raid; the cost of which was 2 shillings (10 p) per year.
